In South India especially my state Kerala the situation is different. We started birth control in 1990s, we have 2 children in 90’s itself we are also in stage of extinction like Korea. Kerala is the only state in India have a negative population growth rate

Why do some people think it's a good idea to have kids if they can't afford to provide for them?

People in poorer countries have multiple children because they typically want more “workers” for the family (on a rural farm for example) to help with daily chores. They also believe that once those children get older and find better jobs/education they will help take care of the parents
