I live in California and every time I’m just amazed to see that this state has a economy bigger than all but 4 countries and it is not even a country. 39 million people and the 5th largest economy on earth. Also, if both the LA area and Bay Area were countries, the LA area would have a top 15 economy and the Bay Area would be top 20 in the world.

In 1770s the US was a backwater agricultural country when the 13 colonies broke away from England and formed the new country. Within 80 years of its founding, the US has industrialized and surpassed the economy of the UK in terms of GPD to become the largest economy in the world. So large in fact, that by the 1910s when the British Empire was at its most powerful, its economy is significantly lower than that of the United States. That has not changed since then. California has just surpassed Germany's economy. If California is its own country, it's economy will be smaller to that of just three other countries: the US, China, and Japan.

Before the western bandits looted india, India was the most richest, prosperous place on this planet. india had 25% of worlds GDP(just like US is today) before bandits arrived and after they left we were reduced to 2%.

@Saumya Saurav Its farfetched to call India "industrialized", sorry if that will offend you. It is industrializing but has a long way to go. And yes, I have heard that India's GDP has surpassed that of the UK on the 75th anniversary of its independence, but that in itself is a far cry from the US experience. When I said the US has surpassed the economy of the UK within 80 years, I mean not only in size but in per capita terms. That's notwithstanding the fact that the US has gone through a 4 year civil war during that time where 620,000 soldiers representing 2% of the population died and a further 500,000 were injured and has decimated a large swath of industries. There is still a wide gap in gpd per capita in India vs the UK.
