For those that don’t understand why some older generations doing this is because at the time there was little to no food growing up during their generation. They see food as a luxury, heard stories from my parents/grandparents generation growing up that food was hard to come by.

People who dont know are shocked, but its just for fun, the idea is that people shouldnt take themselves too seriously. At most parties, they buy a cheap cake for smashing and a nice one for eactually eating and serving the guests.
My point is that some traditions are rowdy and fun, going a little crazy is fun, and if thats what the stew was brought out for, then thats the point, i bet its fun if youre there
