For about 4 years I had a black & white marked much the same as this one. Her owner died, & stopped feeding her. Drawn by hunger to the feeding dish for my cats she shows up at my place. Pours on the charm & purring loudly. So I start feeding her every morning, along with the others. Naturally, the next thing ya know she's adopted me
I named her Socks. At the end of the day it was the very same as in this video. I'd relax on the sofa & she jumps on my chest, staring into my eyes with those emeralds of hers as if to say "You know you're mine, right?" She's give me that same "paw of love" gesture & I'd give her a rub-down. The third year I had her a neighbor's female house cat had her kittens on my back patio. Three I gave away, but two stayed. When the female kitten that remained grew up, I believe Socks decided she wouldn't share the home with any other girl
Even though Socks was always my "first love" & always got the lion's share of my attention, she left. True to self-sufficient cat nature, she went to find a home where she's Queen Bee. Wish I had've been more attentive to her signs of displeasure. I would've found another home for that other girl, had I known better! I'll sure miss my sweetheart

Real life isnt always as simple as a happy ending, afterall. My lesson from her is to be reminded that we may call ourselves "owners," but no one truly owns an animal, anymore than they own the human being whom theyre married to. Both animalkind & human kind will always have inexorable free will
