Canadian here…. It’s pretty much the civilized world…..not just Europe. While Biden is a welcome reprieve from the shit show that was the trump presidency, a reprieve is all it is. Your state Republican governments have been very busy passing anti-voting laws, and that coupled with your weird election system put another trump like idiot in your White House. And this time, since your Republican party has started embracing authoritarianism in place of democracy. It could very well be your last national election.

Europeans have not lost faith in the USA but they have lost faith in Republicans.´While that may sound partisan it’s accurate.
To be blunt: The last 2 GOP administration were assholes.
Boorish, arrogant, dishonest, mean, vindictive, selfish…and utterly incompetent.
That’s not to say the Europeans agreed with everything Clinton, Obama, and Biden did, but they are at least polite, well mannered, and likeable.
Republicans are assholes, so not surprisingly they are not liked in Europe.

I had a discussion on Quora with an American Veteran once. He was telling me how he made my life, here in Germany a lot safer by fighting in Iraq. This is not true at all. USA went to war in Iraq hoping to find weapons of mass destruction. What they actually found was dust. So many lifes lost for nothing. So USA with its wars is making our lives less safe.
There is also the fact that most disinformation starts there. Climate change disinformation, Covid disinformation, etc. even flat earth started there.
Than of course, there is capitalism. We look at how extreme it got there and we really hope it doesn’t get here. You guys are scared of socialism, but we are terrified of your capitalism.

You engaged in very dubious military actions throughout the cold war. And then you undertook an illegal war in Iraq (Gulf war 2) based on completely fake intel.
The latest fiasco of electing the blatant racist and sexual abuser Trump unfit for any position, just showed that you have yet to overcome your dark tendencies.

Because you just don’t make any sense as a country. You treat your citizens abysmally despite the fact you’re the wealthiest nation on earth. You prioritise the wealthy elites in the armaments industry ahead of the safety and right to life of your own children and adults. as well as people in other countries. You prioritise the bottom lines of the health insurance companies, big pharma and law firms ahead of the rights of your citizens to decent healthcare regardless of financial status. You prioritise owners of privatised educational establishments ahead of the need to properly educate your citizens and equip them with critical thinking, instead trying to ensure that they never gain the ability to think critically as that would endanger the brainwashing of the population. You prioritise the profits of private prison owners ahead of the rights of citizens to proper and fair justice.
You don’t allow your citizens real choice in how and by whom they should be governed - instead giving them just two options - invariably both supporting the status quo. If anybody makes any suggestions around policies that would benefit the regular citizen ahead of the wealthy elite. you have brainwashed vast swathes of citizens to angrily denounce such notions as Marxist, communist, socialist with great disdain, demonstrating clearly that they have not the foggiest idea what any of those words even mean.

You have incredible entrepreneurial ability in your country. You have many positive things yet you typically allow your people a choice of being governed by two old, rich, white, “status quo” men, totally out of touch with the real world as experienced by citizens. You’re the richest nation on the planet yet you’re happy to have schoolchildren slaughtered because of your laws, happy to have people die because they can’t afford private healthcare or go bankrupt because insurers try to avoid paying out the cover for which they have paid. You’re happy to have widespread homelessness while your government ploughs billions into an army already multiple times more powerful than anyone else - guess who profits from that?

I have become so disillusioned with the failure of leadership in this country that I am becoming skeptical that we have the will to fight true evil. The basic concepts the founding fathers introduced in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were a product of the times they lived in, but also represented their hope for a better future. These men were not perfect, and by today's standards they would often times be viewed as seriously flawed, but it is unfair to judge these men based on standards that did not exist while they lived. The fact that they built into the Constitution the means for change showed that they recognized that change was inevitable.

As I have aged, I have accepted the fact that I am not the smartest man in the room. I have not accomplished any real life altering deeds. I served my country in the armed forces and I taught high school government/economics for over 30 years. I was not awarded any medals for valor since I was in a non combat job designation. I coached high school sports for years, and I was at best mediocre. I was never teacher of the year. I have lived a mundane life, but I have tried to help rather than hurt those individuals I have been engaged with.

Fox News spreading knowingly false and distorted information and destroying the integrity of our election system.

Virtually any statistic you look at, the U.S. is a second rate country. Only with its military does the U.S. lead and insist on leading despite failure after failure — Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Eastern Europe during the Cold War, now with Ukraine.
While the U.S. economy has long had a dominant position in the world, even that is quickly fading.
In addition to American arrogance, Americans themselves cannot be trusted. Forbes ranks the U.S. 36th in the world for integrity, tied with the Philippines.
Along the global highway, the U.S. is a tattered hobo who can only boast about successes long in the past and refuses to accept their current place along that highway. (Before you give that hobo a ride, check for firearms.)

Then, the internet came, and people realised that their "millionaire American uncles" are in fact window cleaners on the minimum wage, the reality of healthcare bankruptcies, mass shootings, rampant obesity, diplomatic failures in the Middle East and so on.
