Even if trophy hunting were cool, using a gun is the least impressive way to kill an animal

Like wow, congrats for choosing the easiest possible way to kill something. How badass of you to put yourself in a no-lose scenario. What’s next, you want to brag about how you won a footrace against some third graders? I’m sure you were trembling while you shot that lion from fifty yards away. It was honestly a toss up between the gorilla and the sniper rifle right?
I mean really where’s the challenge? Go in there with a knife or wrestle the damn thing. Posing next to dead animals with your giant gun in your hand only shows me how much of a wimp you are.

Throwback to when Mike Tyson tried to box a Gorilla but the zookeeper wouldn't let him
Lmao Mike Tyson would have literally been ripped in half and they’d have to put down the gorilla
The gorilla would've then bit Tyson's ears off.
Was at the zoo earlier this year and saw two gorillas wrestling each other. I wrestled for about 10 years at a pretty competitive level. These gorillas were showing pretty sound technical wrestling. All stuff you'll see at the collegiate level.
Also they're FUCKING GORILLAS! MIKE WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!?!
None of that shit matters when a gorilla is 10x as strong as Mike and 25x as strong as an average person.
They also fight with life or death ferocity. You can't match that.
That was one confident-ass zookeeper to stop a coked-up Mike Tyson.

I would say that poisoning is the least impressive way to kill something.
That works. I was trying to think of less impressive ways to hunt things than a gun and I came up with "booby-trap" and "hunting by drone strike." Neither of those are legal, but they still seem less impressive.
You joke, but some people do use drones for hunting.
Drones with mounted guns sound like a great way to cull invasive boars though.
Nah, trapping takes skill and patience. Not to mention ingenuity since the hunter has to make their own traps.

That's why i run behind my prey until it dies of exhaustion like god intended.
Hundreds of thousands of years of evolution were spent perfecting that technique.
So next time you see a fat guy sweating just remember he is the peak of evolutions advance cooling system that allows them to kill animals by chasing.
Amen! I slowly stab it in the hind quarters when I get close enough so it runs out of energy faster too.
We can take sticks, and make them pointy!
What if we throw those sticks real good ?
That is the pathway to gun
All roads lead to Rome.
This is literally how we hunted. Or we threw rocks. Op really thinks humans were out wrestling fucking bison to earn their meat. Nah homie we’re at the top of the food chain because of our brains and tools we use not because we are good at wresting. Lmao
Personally I think we're at the top because of sweating. Sweating enables our extreme endurance and allows for more efficient cooling of our brain.
This is literally how a sext number of communities hunted. This tactic does not work in all climates/environments. The tactic requires conditions favorable to tracking or long, open sight lines. Try this in a deciduous forest and it’ll never work. The deer will lose you over the next hill and you’ll have no way of finding it again because there won’t be any tracks. I’ve noticed that all of the people who push this theory don’t hunt.
We are ambush predators. We make traps or we throw things at unsuspecting animals.
Shooting a thing is just evolved throwing a thing at a thing. We’re throwing bullets using gunpowder to create the energy.
Lol no, that was incredibly rare because you would be expending way too much energy chasing an animal. Like most omnivores humans are opportunistic and will figure out the easiest way to get a meal. Even early humans would hunt in packs to set ambushes or to corner animals, or funnel them to places to make is easier.
I mean yes but the “favorable conditions” for this style of hunting were the kinds found in the part of the world where our ancestors originated - it would’ve only become a less productive hunting strategy once we moved out of our ancestral homelands.

OP on his way to to kill a bear with nothing but his raging erection
The only real test of a man is to fuck a bear to death
There are legitimately people that go bear hunting alone with just a bow. Talk about having to be clutch in a situation — if you don’t nail your first shot, you’re probably dead.
I knew a man who did that. He killed a Kodiak Grizzly with a wooden longbow, while having recently lost a foot to diabetes. Dan Quillian, human legend.
There actually was a guy that hunted a bear with a spear during bear season somewhere in the US.
I live in bear turf and have to chase them off just about every morning.
I chase them down on foot. They usually run away. Sometimes they will bluff charge and chuff at ya.
What im doing is trying to scare the bear enough he doesn't come back. they will become problematic and that's when dept of wildlife comes in and kills it.

The trade off of it being “less impressive” is you are less likely to wound the animal and have it die a slow painful death.
Though “easier” a gun is much more likely to be humane.
Just ask yourself how you’d like to be hunted and killed. I’d rather be shot with a gun over everything else.
I'd not like to be hunted and killed for sport thank you

I'd be more impressed if they got a pic of them hugging it while it was still alive and unrestrained.

You guys need to learn how to differentiate between "hunting" and "trophy hunting".
SecretHonest1379
It’s a general misconception between hunters and non hunters.
Ask a normal hunter when the last time they went trophy hunting and they will sit down and start telling you how they watching this 14 point buck all season(multiple seasons sometimes) waiting for the perfect moment.
Hunters in the normal hunting community fancy themselves “trophy hunters” when they only take big bucks or mount-worthy game.
What normal people call trophy hunting the hunting community call “exotic big game”.
That’s the confusion here. Most veteran hunters of NA big game, consider themselves trophy hunters, but not in the way city folks would.
There are a few ranches that raise exotic came that you can pay to go hunt and THAT is super unimpressive. It’s like 100acres of flat land with Ibex chillin waiting to be shot. Most hunters don’t consider that real hunting.
Now let’s talk about exotic trophy hunting. It will do more good for the conservations of those animals than any of us in this thread will ever do.
The tags issued are usually to kill a specific animal that is old/violent/diseased/non breeding.
They take your (upwards of 100K) to kill an animal that the rangers were going to kill anyway for the chance to go out and hunt a big game animal.
Last I saw elephants were north of half a million. And I tell you what, you are brave to shoot an elephant with anything.
Govinsky
Im not against hunting, but I never understood mounting a deer head. Like congratulations, you slayed Bambi. It’s not like it’s the head of a fire breathing dragon threatening the local village, but I guess it’s close enough.
Miserable-Ad3196
Totally popular opinion. Killing things your not eating is just wrong.
LucywiththeDiamonds
Dunno if its unpopular but i fully agree.
If you go hunting and feel all powerful by killing a unsuspecting animal by holding a gun and slightly moving a finger thats some real small dick energy.
