@hugh mungus the reduction of human life/troops being risked means what ur suggesting is probably the way they are going/thinking of developing the navy but the cost of this would be hundreds of billions to fully integrate the technology to a level where it is sufficiently autonomous but without having to worry that it would cause a war by calculating that a pre-emptive is the safer bet
Human veto is vital in all these scenarios as a fully capable AI (emphasis on the I) with an understanding of warfare and and given authority/autonomy is a really fuckin dangerous concept - some skynet shit

Hey, thanks for your great comment - agree that a human veto is always needed for a platform so potentially destructive.
The drone ship that you mentioned is something I have not looked deeply into, but have taken notice. Again, I probably need to read more on this before giving a considered comment. But, on the surface, it looks to be a fairly small vessel for launching light drones, and has autonomous AI piloting. These drones are probably used for surveillance and/or research purposes. That said, in recent years there has of course been talks of how large swarms of small cheap drones can overwhelm expensive combat assets, such as fighter jets and naval ships, because of how expensive the latter two has become over time. So, there is a remote possibility that the PLAN may be experimenting with that line of naval warfare, and this ship is the manifestation of that. But, my best guess for now is surveillance and research.

I am not sure - hopefully someone else can fill you in. I know that China does not yet have something fully equivalent to the E-2 Hawkeye, at least not in the carrier compatible sense. It does have the KJ-500, but this is land-only. It is developing the carrier-capable KJ-600, which once finished will be comparable to the E-2
