Rockets are not a thing you build in your garage. They need a whole industry and infrastructure surrounding them, a massive budget, and very specialized people. After the first missions were successful, there really was no incentive to keep the budget and the missions. No budget = no industry and no infrastructure.

“Lost technology” means rockets have very specific parts that we didn’t need to make anymore so we stopped. The infrastructure needed to make them would have to be rebuilt and there’s no real reason for that.
Thing is we never had a reason to go in the first place, it was just a dick swinging contest. It wouldn’t make sense to colonize the moon, research can be done with robots (and is being done on the moon), wouldn’t need to extract resources, why send humans back?

More computing power doesn't suddenly change physics. It's hard to get things to the moon because it's hard to get things into space, let alone get them to the moon and back.

Basically, try to imagine recreating the iMac G3 from scratch. That's something less than 25 years old, there's probably even working examples around, but none of the chip dies are around, there's no CRT manufacturers to build the monitor. Even the molds for the plastic case won't exist. Most or all of the engineers who worked on it are retired or dead. Now take that difficulty and stetch it back an additional 40 years, and make it even more specialized, more handcrafted, more technology that you won't find anywhere else, either before or since. That's what people mean when they say that re-doing it would be too hard. It's not impossible, but why would you bother doing that instead of a new design?
