You can't start fresh. It's important you know that. Your financial history, just like your romantic past, is never unscathed from traumatizing situations. It's important to recognize this.
But that doesn't mean your situation is hopeless.
We don't know much about your life. Where you live. What you do. How much you make. How much you spend. How much cash you have on hand. Your level of education. What type of debt you have (student loans versus mortgage versus credit card ). We don't know very much, and that makes it hard for us to give you great advice. So, take this, and all answers, with a grain of salt - I'm going off of what I have.

Be Frugal. Ruthlessly Frugal.
Right now you're in survival mode. You need to think that way too. What's essential? What's nonessential? Whatever is nonessential sell it. Whatever you don't need, don't buy it. This is survival mode.
Can't afford your house/apartment? Sell it.
You have cable? Dump it.
Think you need a smartphone with your big plan? You don't.
You buy fancy organic foods? Stop doing that.
I repeat, this is survival mode.

However the last point brings me to another important topic. You're going to need to tell your family. Come clean now. I wouldn't ask for loans. But it's important they know. They can lend you clothes. You might have to move back in with them. At least the food will be free.
Start Paying Back Your Debt.
It sucks. Debt sucks. But you have it. You don't have the ability to buy new shit. You don't have the ability to gamble $2,000. Take what you need and use it to pay for the bare minimums you need. The rest should go to paying back your debt. Assuming 5% interest rates, you're paying $2,300 in interest every year. That's a lot of money that's being wasted. Pay back your debt and you'll waste less money. It's very simple. It's also very hard to do.
Get More Income
This may seem like a "no duh" thing. Except it isn't. Most people don't think about getting a second job. Most people don't consider multiple income sources. Depending on how much time you have, what other abilities you have, etc. you might want to consider getting a second source of income. Use it to pay off your debt.

Don't give up. It's hard. But you don't have any other choices. Put your nose to the grindstone and work. Pay off the debt. My parents got married with 45,000 in debt (20 years!). They are both lawyers and today live very comfortably. You never know what the future may hold. However you have to realize that getting to that happy future will involve getting out of this hole.

It really depends on where you live, laws are different everywhere .
My dad died heavy in medical debt from being sick. We are in the U.S. but not in a community property state so my mom wasn’t responsible for any of his debts. They still had a mortgage on the house so she just continued paying it and remained in the home (the house was in both of their names but the mortgage was just in his). Come pay off time she did run into some issues getting a new deed to the house with just her name… they had to reopen his estate through probate court.

You are failing at teaching her about adulting. Go back to charging her 100 per month and do not cave in. If she is late with the rent, do what any landlord would do and charge her a late fee. If she doesn’t pay it serve her an eviction notice. Make her sign a rental agreement. It is time this woman feels reality. She is getting away with this because you allow her to get away with it. You have taught her how to treat you. You need to say what you mean and mean what you say. If you can’t do this then she needs to move out and learn what being a responsible adult really looks like. You have set her up to abuse you. She is abusing you by not respecting you and taking advantage of your kindness. Tell her she needs to move out on her own and learn about reality. If you do not take a firm stand and regain your power you will continue to be abused and you will be impeding this woman’s ability to ever stand on her own two feet. If you do nothing then don’t complain.

If all debt was suddenly forgiven, the world economy would collapse in such a way to make the Great Depression look like a blip. Actually, probably in such a way that civilization would devolve into rioting.
First off, don't forget that the principal way governments and large corporations borrow money is through bonds. Wiping out the value of those bonds instantly would destroy the savings of literally millions of individuals in a heartbeat. It would also mean that people would almost certainly not flock back to the bond market, meaning that world governments would not only lose the power to deficit spend,[1] but would also lose most of their power in setting monetary policy and interest rates. In other words, that's a lot of wealth gone in an instant, and virtually every tool a government might conceivably use to kickstart an economy gone with it.
Also, banks would be completely destroyed. Not only would every loan the bank made be wiped out in a heartbeat, the deposits (which are just loans depositors make to the bank) would be wiped out as well. In other words, there went everyone's savings accounts and checking accounts. Everyone.
One of the smaller effects would be the complete destruction of any and all internet commerce. Internet commerce is possible only through the use of credit cards, debit cards and bank accounts. We've just destroyed every bank account out there and with it, debit cards. We've also wiped out credit cards, because the credit card companies just took a bath like you wouldn't believe.
There would be no obvious means of recovery from this. Keep in mind, everyone just simultaneously defaulted on their debts, which means that the interest rates that would be charged on any further loans would fall under the US' legal definition of loan sharking - if I have to worry about another spontaneous default, you can bet that I'll charge through the nose for a loan. Economic growth since at least the Roman Empire has been powered by people borrowing money. Without that mechanism, that's it, that's the ball game, we're back to effectively a subsistence economy and the barter system. Which brings me to the big point:
Debt is not necessarily bad.

How do you clear debt in Singapore?
As one who managed to rack up a sizable “personal” debt, all I can say is that you just have to reach a payment plan with your debtors.
Your debtors’ final goal is to recover the money you owe them, so they will “try” their best to reach an agreement with you. It is not to their best interest to drive you to suicide or bankruptcy. Mind you, if you are bankrupted, it might take a longer time for them to recover their money.
If your debtors are not banks or some kinds of “evil corporations”, then you should have an easier time to repay. Once you reach an agreement with your debtors, stick to the payment plan and make sure they know in advance if you need to deviate from the plan. If they are reasonable, they will give you some leeways as long as you can finish paying the debts within the agreed timefrxs.
During this period, it would be best to your interest not to damage any goodwill displayed by your debtors. Be in a good relationship with them and get your debt cleared without much hiccup.

你如何清理新加坡的债务？

My parents’ lawyer hasn't responded to their calls/emails in two months. Is this normal?
Sometimes there is nothing to say, but even so, no attorney should go so long without communicating with their clients. The fact that the case is pro bono is irrelevant, lawyers should treat all clients with respect. It is, in fact, unethical to fail to communicate timely with one’s clients.
I hear of entirely too many lawyers putting their clients off like this.
I cannot tell you whether to find a lawyer and pay for the service yourself. But I can say, that your parents deserve better.

Start by taking inventory of all debt. Credit card debt, personal loans, education loans, vehicle loans, home improvement loans. What you can keep away from this list is a home loan since the tenure could span over a decade. In an excel sheet, stack them in order of interest rate, and size (amount of outstanding).
Debt Avalanche Strategy: Pay off your debts in order from the highest interest rate to the lowest, regardless of balance.
Say you have a credit card outstanding bill of Rs 40,000 at 24% per annum interest rate. But your personal loan is 18% per annum. This strategy would need you to pay off your credit card bill with priority as it has a higher cost. Once you clear that, you move on to the next most expensive outstanding.
But it does not imply paying off one loan to the exclusion of another. Make the minimum payment on each loan, while the extra money you have managed to save should be channelized into the one with the highest interest rate.
Debt Snowball Strategy: This time, the size of the debt becomes the focal point, not the cost of it.

The math favours this Avalanche Strategy, but if the Snowball Strategy helps you actually achieve the goal of being debt-free, there's value in that, too. The Snowball Strategy helps you take the first small steps and is kind of a behavioural trick, the idea being that taking small steps can lead to a sense of motivation and empowerment. It gives you a sense of control and achievement.
Or, you can try a combination. You can work at eliminating the smallest loan first to keep you motivated. After getting one or two out of the way, you can switch to tackling the most expensive debt. A word of caution here: Have a written plan that you adhere to. Or else you will be switching between the two constantly and not make much progress.
THE BEST STEP TO DEALING WITH DEBT IS TO GET RID OF IT.
