I'm Indonesian, the growth i've seen in the last 5 years are immense, more and more people got higher end service jobs (IT, Customer Service, Senior Manager, etc) especially with the rise of Indonesia's unicorns & startup companies, even in the last 2 years, dozens of new startups have emerged, many may not succeed but a lot of them will and create more higher end service jobs for rising middle class. The manufacturing sector has not seen the best of days but following this year's covid pandemic, the government has pushed foreign companies to invest here.
The things that i think will inhibit this growth are corruption, social & demographic issues, and environmental issue. The first problem is the most essential one, a lot of the time law & justice system are in dysfunction because of corruption.
