Family comes first... and for the trip I have an exactly reverse route of yours haha. I'm in Beijing, been with my mom for her last few months of bittersweet cancer memorries, and now I'm planning my trip back to Australia and hopefully everthing will be fine <3 ??

I found myself in an unexpected long distance relationship and travelled back and fourth for a few years before we moved in together. We're at 10 years now and going strong. Looking forward to future content that includes more insight into the food of different villages, cities, regions in China of which there is not a lot of content on regarding diversity and differences (thank you for your insights). I did the opposite direction. I flew back to China to see my grandma from Europe as she was in ICU. Did all the quarantines and started the first day of my job in my quarantine hotel.
That was the last time I saw her in person as she passed away after a few months.

Wow, I went through Hong Kong airport and on to Mainland China three times in 15 months, the very last time was 31 Dec 2019.......Makes me sad seeing it closed up like that.

I am so happy for you Amy. I have not seen my only surviving grandparent since 2017...which made me a little sad. So watching this is bittersweet for me, too.
Cherish the days of "the entire household being fed when 1 person is full" (一人吃饱全家不饿). 杰里德 had to do it without 苏苏, 阿福 returned to Deutschland alone leaving her wife in Shanghai. And they don't even have kids. Just imagine how hard it is with kids...

I got very emotional by watching this video.. It reminds me of my parents and my sister in China. I haven't seen them in person since covid started, but it is not an easy thing to go back and visit them when having a new family and work in Sydney :( Covid makes this world crazy
