I came to America as a freshman undergrad (1st year) in 2003, and have lived here for more than a decade.
I will say one thing before anything else. Living in an industrialized country with good infrastructure is addictive, especially for Indian and other countries with generally poor infrastructure. If you seek more comfort, and are bothered daily by stresses of transport, electricity and water supply, I would recommend migrating from India, to America or any other developed place.
If you are not bothered by India’s infrastructure deficiencies, situation becomes a bit more complicated.

It is usually not possible for an Indian to build a business here in their 20s and early 30s.
So in short, unless you want complete freedom to take entrepreneurial initiatives, America is a great place to live, work and raise a family.

On further reflection, and after seeing this video by a fellow India to US undergrader, I think there is an important reason to try one’s luck in India in one’s twenties.
Th ability to bounce around and figure out what you want to do in life.
Tenties are the time to explore, not just the world as a tourist, but also oneself by trying out different career paths. One needs to experience and understand the impact of different kinds of careers, the culture and work life of which industry suits them best and offers them the life opportunities they want.
This is practically impossible if one moves to the US on a work visa for two reasons:
Even in the best possible case, it is unlikely you will get a green card before the age of 28–29. By this time, you are almost through the decade of exploration.
Your friend circle in the US is bound to be much narrower in scope (same kind of jobs/industry) and scale (different reference points from the majority of the population) than in India. More often than not, it is your network which will open the doors to different job opportunities.

I would say it's not worth living in US for an Indian immigrant anymore than compared to the 1980s-90s. India has a lot more opportunities now after capitalist reforms were created in 1991.
It's possible to be rich and have a private enterprise in India today. It wasn't possible earlier. I know a lot of people like me returned to India as you could expand your family business and make more money than in US.
In the US, Indians are minorities and its tough to climb the corporate ladder. Unless you have zero opportunities in India, its not advisable to migrate to US anymore.

Everybody has different experiences in the US based on their circumstances.
What is worthy for me, might be unworthy for you, so it is a personal experience(unless you experience it, you will not know)
My experience(s) have been different.
(1) Capitalistic country where hard work and dedication generally pays off .
(2) Opportunities galore, if you are willing to learn new things and put in the needed effort.
(3) Independent people, independent thinking, they value "self" a lot (so even your own kids are their own selves, you cannot bully them to do it your way), they do everything on their own and don't expect any help from anybody(generally).
(4) One of the world's best , for fulfilling all of modern life necessities
(5) Despite what the various newspapers highlight: People don't shoot each other in day light, Racism is rare(far far better compared to India and even other developed nations like UK, Australia, Europe)
(6)Many friends who lived in other Nations outside USA felt much more independent and happy in here compared to Europe, Australia and other nations.
(7)Generally very safe environment, unless you want to (a)Visit shady areas (b)Fight and invite trouble with others (c)Unlucky(being in the wrong place at the wrong time) (d)Encounter one of the few racist morons around.
(8)Social and Family life: Indians generally like to live around a lot of other Indians, so they create a mini India for themselves and live happily(Indian Food ,Movies, Shopping and what not), We have some places in US where you will feel like you are in India and not in US (freedom to create your own country far far away from India:)).

All the above are specific to India, as already mentioned, US is a different country and different culture, you need to give it some time and be a part of it, rather than trying to find India in US.

Comparing and expecting it to become India is very unfair (because US is different)
Settling and living in US takes some time, but once you put in the hard work , you should generally be happy.

The following aspects seem to be highlighted by everyone when they want to highlight how bad the US is, but he reality is very different,
(1)Guns and gun laws: Lived almost 20 years here, yet to see a shooting, only saw 2 people carry guns (lived in the countryside, big cities and also mid sized cities). As mentioned earlier everybody's experiences are different and this issue is very trivial (my personal perspective)
(2)Racism: It is far far less compared to other nations in the world (even compared to India), everybody is treated equally, If you feel you are treated badly(and you have valid proofs) , there is a very fair and swift Justice system to take care of that.
(3)Cost of Living: The quality of life cannot be compared to India, In addition US is a capitalistic society, you generally get good quality services and need to pay for those (rarely subsidized for anything).
(4)Vacation Policies: Different organizations different policies (government mandate or rule doesn't mean you have zero vacation), generally you will at-least have 15 days of paid vacation in most of the US organizations (context: Govt organizations, Technology Sector, Defense Contractors)
(5)Healthcare and so on: No system in the world is perfect, even though people malign the US healthcare system, I consider it far far better than the Indian system.
No healthcare provider in the US can refuse a patient in emergency because he/she has no money/insurance. Very high quality treatment will be provided. In most cases the costs are written off as losses to the provider .
(6)Kids in USA not caring for parents(not listening to parents): Everybody is treated equally (even month's old babies), they are encouraged to be independent. USA encourages independence, never depend on others for your needs. For your old life start saving in 401K, IRA and other retirement vehicles. Start planning ahead. Social Security provides a little help for retirement planning but not whole. Expecting kids to take care of you in old life is fine as long as the kid wants to, but it is not something that has to be forced upon the kid.

Yes and No.
I have lived here in the US in many cities, for over 25 years. Many points have been already mentioned in this beautiful and informative thread. Here are a couple of net new ideas.
For women this country (US) is safer and more egalitarian. If you have many women in your family, they will appreciate that.
If your children were born here and grew up here, this is the only real home they know. Then the choice becomes: live away from children or from parents. I think statistics will show that people choose to stay on with the children in the US.
The opportunities here are real. Competition is also real tough. (A lot of this ethos has now already spread to India and other countries too). It can be very stressful. It is a ruthlessly materialistic society. Gotta meditate or somehow take care of stress, or it will kill you. Medical system here is dysfunctional. Get into yoga and/or meditation.
Freedom is fantastic. You alone however are responsible for and care for yourself. Personal Support systems can be built here, but they are usually thin, and mostly based on friendships and less on family relationships. People will forget you in a couple of weeks, once you are no more. So retiring here or not is still a difficult question (point #2 above).

It is all up to each and every individual. One would say, ‘Sure, yes’, another might say, ‘Hell No’, yet another might say, ‘I don’t know. Maybe I’ll be here for sometime but will move on later’, and all of these answers are right to them.
There are some points you mention in the Question details that I don’t agree with.
US I believe is one of the countries Indians can find reasonably comfortable. US and India are both multicultural countries. In US people from different countries bring in the cultural variety whereas in India people of different states do that.
Both are highly populous countries. Both are large democracies. The type of democracy followed in the two countries are different though.
US-India relations was not good for about 5 decades but improved in the last couple of decades. It is still not the best of relationships but nevertheless its definitely a good relationship.
I believe among the many countries in the world, US is one of the best countries for Indians to live. Of course it can never be like India but I do believe its a good choice.
I can never reconcile with the 2nd amendment of US constitution (individual gun ownership rights). Whereas many Americans are highly protective of it.
As far as I’m concerned, US is definitely worthy of living for an Indian. However if you don’t agree with this viewpoint that’s right too. There is one feeling many Indians feel even after many years of stay here - there is nothing like home!

The struggle immigrants face is with the lengthy immigration process. However, if you are really good, this is a non issue. Many talented Indians join large companies in the U.S. and despite the long process, they can enjoy all the benefits of US citizens.
I don't think India-US relations matter. Indians (and others) have all rights and opportunity as US citizens (and more). Indians also enjoy a positive bias (for the most part).
Given the previous statements, the US offers opportunities like no other country for hobbies, interests, business related networking, technical knowledge, education, travel. Many Indians never realize how to take advantage of these opportunities.
There are some disadvantages to living in the U.S. - the distance from India, visiting older parents having a difficult time moving around on their own or forming friends and in general cultural/social struggles for first generation immigrants.
