unx Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc is welcome to set up shop in India, make cars there for sale and export them, but must not import cars from China. He said that making in China and selling in India is not a good proposition. Tesla is desperate to import and sell its electric vehicles in India, having lobbied officials in New Delhi for nearly a year to cut tariffs, which the company's billionaire chief executive Elon Musk says are among the highest in the world.

No worries who needs Tesla. I feel it's time Indians should trust Indian Brands in automobile than trusting Japanese or German or Western Brands. Govt should support Indian brands not just the ones we already have but also those about to start an Automobile Brand. And then Indian Companies should invest in R&D and make their products at par with Global Standards like Tata and Mahindra are already doing in terms of features and safety. We'll have our own Made in India EV more or at par with Tesla manufactured by our own Engineers and Workers under an Indian Brand.

Government doesn't have it's own money, in order to give it to someone, they need to take it away from you first. So, who will pay such a premium for AI which is the USP of Tesla when Indians cannot even use that feature on our roads. We need to encourage other electric car manufacturers to make cars designed for Indian roads ( to be honest our roads are pathetic for cars like tesla ).
Our goal should be to shift to EV rather a luxurious EV.
