Whereas the Scandinavian languages -- Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian -- are mutually intelligible, Finnish and Icelandic are different. Finnish is in a completely separate family of languages (the Finno-Ugric, to be exact). Icelandic is similar to Scandinavian languages but branched off from Old Norse long ago that I as a Norwegian cannot understand it.
Iceland is tiny. Norway has oil. Denmark is flat. Sweden was neutral during the war (you know the one), and we're still a little suspicious of those guys.
Denmark, Sweden, and Finland are EU members. Norway and Iceland are not.
Ski jumping is not a popular sport in Denmark. Nor in Iceland. Who knows why?
All five countries have similar standards of living, and roughly similar political, health-care, and education systems. If you talk to people on the streets you'd be hard pressed to find significant differences in worldviews or political outlook from one country to the next.

Not a lot of specifics inthe question, so I’ll just mention a few things that I notice are different.
Norway has a large petroleum sector, unlike the other Nordic countries. Even though Denmark has a petroleum industry, it’s dwarfed by comparison to Norway’s. Norway also has a lot of fjords and valleys that you won’t see as much (or at all) in the other Nordic countries. We beat everyone else at winter sports. Especially the Swedes.
Sweden has a very robust and dynamic heavy industry sector (especially for the size of its population), including the manufacture of cars and fighter jets, something the other Nordic countries don’t have. They also have (arguably) the most successful gaming industry in the Nordic region (see DICE).
Denmark is very flat, in contrast to the other Nordic countries. You’ll find no large mountains there. You’ll find LEGO’s though, and beer. They’re not good at winter sports like Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Finland has a lot of lakes, and also a few IT companies (looking at you, Nokia). Their education system is also said to be one of the best in the world, and number 1 among the Nordic countries.
Iceland is an island, unlike the other Nordic countries. They also have volcano’s (or at least a volcano), which we don’t have in the other Nordic countries. Shares Denmark’s lack of aptitude in winter sports. They’ve proven to be good at football though.

I’d say that the biggest difference is the landscape and nature, really.
Denmark has flatness, fields, a few forests, beaches and scattered (flat) islands and skerries.
Sweden has flatness, deep and thick forests, rivers and, in the inland, hills and mountains.
Norway has fjords, mountains, valleys, waterfalls, forests, an uncountable amount of rocky islands and very little flatness.
Iceland has lava-fields, fjords, glaciers, mountains, sea-cliffs, not much forest at all and a few odd volcanoes.
The Faroe Islands have green grass, green hills, green, bulky islands, rocky outposts and no forests whatsoever.
Finland has flatness, an interminable thick forest, maze-like archipelagoes and an uncountable amount of lakes.

Which Nordic country is the most developed?
There are several different answers to this question. All the Nordic countries are very closely the same on subjects like infrastructure, separation of church and state, division of wealth, standard of living, technological development, politics etc but some are stronger than others on certain areas, all of which can be considered a trait of a developed country.
History
Denmark has arguably the longest and greatest history of all the Nordic countries. Still bearing the oldest country flag in the world, which was later adopted by the other Nordic nations, despite a very tumultuous millennium (being at war with Sweden a record-setting 27 times) is proof of that. Having reigned over large parts of Germany, Sweden, Norway and Britain, Denmark sets itself above as the Nordic powerhouse of history and European influence.

Norway is by far the most developed country economically, as Lyonel pointed out. The GDP of all Nordic countries aside from Norway averages at $60k, while Norway peaks at a stunning $100k, vastly influenced by their oil.
Socially
Along with the largest Nordic population comes great culture. Sweden spit out more one-hit-wonders and superstars in a week, than all the other Nordics combined do in a year.
Education
Despite being listed as the 43rd in expenditures on education, Finland is ranking the 2nd best in the entire world when it comes to educating their citizens. Finland is the most efficient and developed country in the world when it comes to education. Finnish students go to school about 5 hours a day and have very little homework. Finland definitely cracked the code to the optimal education system.
For reference Denmark is ranked #18 on the global education expenditures list, Iceland #21, Norway #28 and Sweden #32. The government spending on education isn't at all reflected in the quality of students.

What do Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland think of each other?
I’m a Norwegian, so lemme tell ya what I think of my neighbors.
Sweden - There is an odd charm to this country and their people. They speak in a soft, charming tone that I comprehend. We are similar in so many ways. I grew up watching Swedish television. I love their humor. I even travel there to buy cheap alcohol. Yet, I can’t help but ridicule and make fun of them.
Denmark - I feel like they are our mentally challenged cousin. Their language is utterly incomprehensible. They talk as if they are gagging on vomit. As far as I know, they can’t even understand each other. But, their cities look better than ours. Also, they do sandwiches better than us. They also seem somewhat more cultured and cosmopolitan.
Finland - unpredictable drunkards whom you’ll find sleeping on the kitchen table in the morning.
So Sweden is that cool brother, and also the cute girl next door whom you have a crush on. The Dane is the loud cousin who speaks incomprehensibly, but you like having them around because they are entertaining. And, the Finn is the half-naked drunkard sleeping in the corner.

What really differentiates a Dane from a Norwegian and a Swede in terms of mentality, culture and behavior?
Danes are in some way paradoxical. They are very aware of being special compared to other countries, but they deny being proud of anything. If you are proud of something, you better hide it. Being modest is what danes are most proud of. They welcome foreigners, but only if they do their best to assimilate as quickly as possible, and it takes at least two or three generations to be accepted as real danes.
Danes think their flag is the most beautiful in the world and they use it frequently but not in a nationalistic or militant manner. Danes are easy going, like partying and celebrating a lot of different traditional events. They like joking and laughing a lot.
Swedes are compared to Danes much more formal and serious. To be correct in all aspects of life is important to them. Partly because of strict restrictions on purchasing alcohol, many swedes travel to Denmark, when they want to have some fun. Swedes consider themselves to be more internationally orientated than Denmark, but they are more nationslistic and proud of their country's status as a modern technologically advanced and wealthy state, which can also be a role model for other countries in all aspects, not least moral aspects.
Like Denmark and Sweden Norway is a country with a strong feeling of national identity. Norwegians are typically more proud of being norwegians than danes are of being danes and swedes are of being swedes. On the whole they are more puritan than the other scandinavians. They love sport, fishing and outdoor activities. Like swedes norwegians like to travel to Denmark, when they wish to have some fun and drink a lot of alcoholic beverages. By the way danes, norwegians and swedes usually understand each others quite well, and there are a lot of mixed marriages across the borders and waters dividing the three countries Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Swedes are very polite and friendly but also a bit stiff and either socially awkward or deliberately asocial, a bit lame, “soft”/sissy, careful, very orderly, structured, responsible, law-abiding, slightly humble and moderate in their ways. Swedes have access to a lot of nature and like to be out and get fresh air, although not quite as much as Norwegians. Swedes furthermore see themselves as the center of the North and subconsciously act accordingly. Swedes are probably the worst at understanding their neighbouring countries’ languages, since they kind of expect everyone else to know Swedish or speak extra clearly. Swedes are very self-conscious and self-aware and unfortunately probably the least patriotic of the Nordic countries, or at least they are not openly flag-wavingly patriotic in the same way that Danes are. Swedes very much genuinely love all of their Nordic neighbours and appreciate their ways. They see themselves as the clearly most globalised, and therefore love to see the slightly more archaic and ancestral Viking traits that live on to a higher degree in their neighbours, reminding them of their own, at times seemingly half-forgotten, old Nordic identity.

Norwegians are very pleasant, nice, jolly and sweet but can also be hardy and tough, they love to be out in nature etc etc. Because of their activites such as mountain climbing, hiking and walking, the Norwegians are somewhat tough, like the Finns. Danes are generally cheerful and have a strong self confidence, they’re often drunk, happy and very social, glad to be chatting away loudly and making new friends, and are in general clearly more southron in their ways than the other Nordic countries. They have very little nature in their country and do not have the same grim or hale disposition as the other Nordic countries due to this, but are tough in their own way, instead possessing the same cocky bar-brawl spirit as a Brit or New Englander. They kind of still see themselves as the center of the North, and very consciously act accordingly. The Danes are possibly the Nordic people with the strongest and most openly patriotic ways, taking great pride in the red and white.

This is my highly personal view:
Denmark: when shaking hands with a Danish person, count your fingers afterwards. Great dealers and negotiators.
Finland: seem to be cold, but once you get a good relation, things go fast and smooth. Direct and straight way of communication.
Norway: no meetings after 1500, office is empty. Nature loving and easy going. Can’t be angry! Can be difficult to know what they really think or want. Unclear line between supplier and customer, all seem to be friends.
Sweden: on the surface, everything must be politically correct, every detail. Difficult to know when you have a deal or not. Too affraid to speak up and say what they think, would let the time decide by avoiding contact.

I must admit, that I have quite little experience of Danes and Norwegians, though I have been working with few of them.
Swedes are fashionable, and do almost everything to not stand out in a crowd, except perhaps by trying to be slightly more stylish and more fashionable than the rest. They are usually very businesslike, professional, well educated, and often beautiful. Compared to Finns, they are slightly more social and more talkative.
Norwegians are often outdoor-people, athletic, and possibly even a bit more beautiful than the Swedes. Perhaps, because after all the outdoor activities they have a healthy glow on their cheeks. I got along with Norwegians well, since they weren’t pompous like some other people, and were straightforward. Like Finns, those Norwegians I met, paied more attention to the practicality of their clothes than to the fashion, using often sportwear and such.
Danes, I don’t know too much of them. One I met was very hardworking, another not so much. Or actually, the second Dane was using the computer of our employer and the working time to run her own business, till she got caught. The image that I have of them, they are more relaxed and flexible when following certain rules. A friend who worked as a tourist guide, for instance complained, that unlike the Norwegians and Swedes, Danes often “borrowed” other peoples things, and were indifferent when they were complained about that. But that is of course only one working environment, and I don’t suggest all Danes are bent, just that they sometimes are more inclined to follow their own rules. They also seem to think that they are very cosmopolitan, though I’m not sure if anybody else sees them like that.
Finns are stereotypically quite introvert and silent, and take care of their own business. People can dress as they choose, because even if others think, that their choise of clothes is tastless, it’s none of their business. Though Finland is today quite a secularised society, certain protestant virtues still apply, like honesty, diligence and modesty. And if you are talking about Finns, sauna should be mentioned. But it’s perhaps better that I don’t go too far describing Finns, as I as a Finn can hardly be obxtive about it, and I don’t want to go bragging.

Denmark: Similar to Germans. Arrogant, loves beer and sausage. Cultured. The odd man out in Scandinavia.
Sweden: Friendly, happy and proud. Also prudish and submissive to societal rules. The most Scandinavian country of the three.
Norway: Where Sweden would be the urban version, they are the rural. Very similar to Sweden in every other aspect. Like brothers (Sweden being the older, more responsible sibling), while Denmark is the worldly cousin.
Finland: A neighbor, not a relative. You say hello to him on the street, but you never visit each others houses. Where Scandinavians drink to remember, he drinks to forget. Seem to be quicker to violence, like the Russians.

Norway: Expensive. They have lots of oil money. Norwegians are friendly but have a slight tendency toward brooding. They are more in touch with nature than Swedes or Danes. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. Social attitudes are a bit more conservative than in Sweden. They are the most artistic among the four, and they are great at winter sports (except ice hockey). As a nation they have a special relationship with the sea, and are “the true vikings”. They’ve been kind of a punching bag for both Sweden and Denmark throughout history.
Denmark: Our rivals! We used to be at war with them a lot, back when a long line of mostly uninteresting kings ruled over Sweden. They used to be the libertarian ones back in the eighties, now they seem more socially and culturally conservative. Flat landscape with lots of farms and farmers. The Danes distrust authorities and are confrontative, never afraid to speak their mind. They know how to have a good time, and are generally happy (when they’re not angry), and they love a good joke, preferrably one that’s a bit offensive. There is a sense of hostility towards Swedes and Sweden, who are viewed as emasculated, and absurdly anxious about being politically correct. They’re the least feminist of all Nordic countries.

I purposefully left out Iceland since they weren’t mentioned in the question, but I realised I might as well list some of my prejudices against them as well.
Iceland: Actual real vikings. Knitted clothes in natural colours, riding on the tundra on small horses. Fish is the only thing available to eat, and they prepare it in even more disgusting ways than we do. Their ancient language is awesome but the grammar is insane, and they are the rightful rulers of the North. They’re small. Iceland would be the third biggest city in Sweden, population wise. There is one Icelandic city, where they make videogames about space, and then there are two villages, and if you live anywhere else you die from volcanoes, geysers and glaciers. Icelanders are humble, friendly .
