Hippo.
Hippo hide is meant to be impermeable to crocs, lions, and most importantly other hippo’s tusks.
On land, the polar bear would have a movement advantage, but I’m still not so sure they could get to vital kill points before one debilitating chomp.

I see you have a lot of upvotes so my opinion will be unpopular. A polar bear has twice the bite force of a lion, and can be 5 times the weight. Polar bears are massive, and I would put all my money on the polar bear to take this.
Can add that a polar bear can reach a height up to 3 meters tall when standing on it's back feet. My thought were that this massive apex predator would hammer it's huge paws and claws on the back of the hippo. Also worth noting that top speed and agility are not synonymous.

A polar bear won't try to swipe at a hippo's skull first thing in the fight. Those skulls have serious bulk by the way. It would try to avoid the rampaging hippo's mouth, possibly trying to swipe at the pachyderm's sides or rear, to which the hippo will not respond lightly. A hippo has a way stronger bite than a polar bear.

Not only is the hippo skin 5cm thick as you've mentioned, it's also tough. Hippos are very heavily built, capable of moving pretty quickly on land. They can tank whole lion prides trying to attack them. A single polar bear is not stronger than a whole lion pride.
Hippos have quite the muscle too and their big skulls won't break nearly as easily as a walrus or a beluga skull.

I don’t mean to pile on here, because I understand your point. But I recently watched a video of an entire pride of lionesses and a few adolescent male lions try to take down a mid-size hippo. I’m talking 6-7 lions at once. All jumping on it, biting it’s spine, and trying to tip it on its side. Thousands of lbs of lion, 8-10 strong arms and sharp claws and the Hippo never even broke a sweat. It just kinda dragged them to a watering hole and swam away. Only thing that comes close to being able to punk a Hippo is a rhino or an elephant.

How is the bear even getting on the hippo's back? I see this counterargument against hippos a lot. The hippo isn't gonna stand there and let the polar bear try and climb onto it's back. The hippo would just shake the polar bear off after a brief struggle and end said bear rightly with a skull bite (which they have done to lions. Polar bears are not big enough to avoid the hippo's jaws)
