Homei Miyashita from Japan’s Meiji University has created a lickable TV screen to allow viewers to taste what they see. “Taste the TV” (TTTV) uses a “flavour spray” technology to create a multi-sensory viewing experience. Miyashita says his invention was inspired by the pandemic when people were unable to enjoy restaurant food. Miyashita is hoping to commercialise his prototype and is in talks with companies about using his flavour-spray technology on devices that can apply the taste of pizza or chocolate on toasted bread.

I run a Food Flavor business and this is a great idea for our own use. I have conference calls with our R&D team in different cities. It’s difficult to describe flavor profiles without actually smelling or tasting the same product during meeting. This can really help with our meeting if we can’t get the samples all at once together. Interesting concept but still lots of improvements to be made. Thanks for sharing.

Also, it would probably more hygienic and convenient for the device to drop a lil cup of the taste liquids instead of having to lick a screen.

Idk if it didn''t exist before or if this does it better but the rest of the thing, the whole licking the screen aspect, seems like the gimmicky part to make it more viral and allow for sexually suggestive imagery. Just having the taste go to your mouth through a different device but in sync with content on the screen makes way more sense
