In the meantime, there are a number of advantages of Chinese characters that other languages usually don’t have:
it is beautiful, in its shape and meaning. The Chinese writing system also has far greater aesthetic interest than simple scxts.

When I was young in Hong Kong, I got my hand sore whenever I finished writing my Chinese calligraphic dictation of long passage in very limited time at school. According to nowaday standard of teaching, that past dictation practice was in fact a serious physical torture.

Each Chinese character is a full word, and there is no correlation between how a character looks and how it’s pronounced; this means that Chinese characters can be used for writing *any* language!

I really like the Chinese language, although as a foreigner I must admit I most certainly fall short when it comes to appreciating it in all of its profoundness and intricacies.
In reading, I prefer Chinese. For the reasons you listed above: brevity. Less space needed for more content. Plus points for aesthetics. Western (namely latin) alphabet is simple to learn, use, and is practical. But when it comes to visual appeal it goes without saying who the winner is. Love both versions, the simplified (简体) or traditional (繁体). Although all of them, at least in pixelated forms, have rigid appearances already agreed on. But paper leaves space for freedom ;)
Also a consequence of having many similar pinyin matches is that sometimes you'll have a harder time looking for a character, especially if it's one of the less commonly used ones. And sometimes you won't find your desired character at all, making you try a few similarly sounding spellings... This is particularly true for certain names. Which 'Chen' are you again? I'm gonna have to scroll down about 5 pages to get to you. It was #xxx last time. Although in such cases the drawing option is usually faster. I will normally try to use it for less common characters. But, being a foreigner and all, I am very underpracticed in this skill. Since I communicate in Chinese mostly online and through the phone, typing is the way to go. I've never formally practiced writing actual Chinese, apart from some wishcards and similar short text messages that I (took pictures of and) sent to my friends. And even those took me a while because my god do I suck at writing Chinese.
And finally there's the fact that once the pinyin to character conversion is complete, or the characters are pasted on you and your recipient's screens, the original pinyin input is lost. That's why, in some cases of mistypings, where not only the characters will deviate from the ones intended but also the pinyin spelling of those characters, it is sometimes hard for the recipient party to get the meaning trying to be communicated, and sometimes they may get the wrong idea altogether. In English and other latin alphabet using countries this problem doesn't exist because usually the wrong spelling of a letter or two doesn't affect the rest of the word, in the absence of autocorrect that is. That is usually enough for the receiving party to get the messaged in spite the typo. It won't need additional clarification in most cases.
Edit: I do love the neat tricks the Chinese keyboard has to offer. Like typing two initials , to get a a common two character word or phrase, such as hh that will get you all sorts of laughing characters, but also 还好 and 很好, hy generates 还有，还要，欢迎，好远 nb will offer 能不 and 牛逼 etc

The usual spoken Chinese 白话 put into writing is to make it easier for elementary learners or laypeople to understand an idea which one wishes to express. At the advanced level, a complex idea can be compressed into just a few words, like a zip file of a long article. I do have some worries that the young people today tend to ignore ancient text 古文 writing and wisdoms. The full potential of Chinese language may be forgotten in the long run. However, it's a pity that the majority don't get to benefit from it because of their own aversion of this beautiful and powerful language. I am not, either. I am not Han Chinese, and my language is not Chinese, either. However, when I learnt Chinese, and Russian as my second languages in high school, I found Chinese writing very interesting. I see Chinese writing contains meanings in each characters.
For example, when I came to live in the US, I saw the sign that writes “Car 4 sale,” I had a hard time to understand it. Why? At the first glance, I did not read the sign in tonal voice, but in the meanings of the word “4.” That is the reason the sign did not make sense. It has no meanings. In the effort to search for the meanings of the sign, I attempted to read it in pronunciation. At that time, I understand the sign.
When I went to college in the US, I found that some misspelling words, people tend to correct them, and still understand the sentence as a whole statement. I don’t know, as a programmer I can type all day, but I get tired after writing about 20 characters. Not that I don’t get tired writing English though.

Well you typed it with your keyboard using pinyin. That makes not differences than typing it in english. Maybe even slower since you have to pick the right character between the one with the same pinyin. But yeah handwriting talking you are right.

The only problem I've found about Chinese words is that I forget how to write them now that I only type Chinese on electronic equipment. This will not happen to languages like English because we still type characters on electronic equipment
