I'm a huge Expanse fan looking for good sci-fi while I wait for the final book. Three Body (currently halfway through Deaths End) has exceeded my expectations.

Chile. I always choose what to read by the title of the books. Although I like mathematics I didn't know that the title was for the famous mathematical problem, I was intrigued by the title and thought that the plot would be of some intergalactic level conflict between civilizations due to the disappearance of a group of important diplomats in a teleporting machine.

I first learned about this book on TOR.com and was very intrigued, i think it was this article.
I loved the series and the 3rd book/translation was due to come out shortly after my birthday in my country, but my partner managed to get an advanced copy of the translation for me.
Now this year I've finally convinced my friend to read the series and he loved it as well.

Good ol New Jersey USA. I heard about it from the announcement of the new Neflix series in development by the Game of Thrones showrunners. After I finished the books I was blown away and thought this series would be absolutely amazing when we get to the real sci-fi elements of the Earth turning on each other and forcing the relocation of people to Australia.

I was avoiding this sub for weeks until today, since I finished reading the trilogy last night.

Your question had me puzzled: as an absolute fan of the trilogy, having read it two full times... I realise I cannot remember how I discovered it. And really, for the sheer evocative power of the first tome, to the thought provoking thinking of the second, up to the dimension bending of the third, it seems uncanny. I should remember, it is an absolute favourite of mine. (Add: José Saramago "Memorial do convento", Boulgakov "the master and Marguerite", and Marquez "a 100 years of solitude").

A Chinese in Singapore. I knew the trilogy but never read it when they were published (huge fan of the author when he wrote short stories in SF World). I was recommended by my classmate who was a math PhD and my first read was in English.
