I'll tell you about my own experience, as soon as I got all my degrees and papers in my hand, just like any other Indian, I too thought that I'll move out of here, permanently shift to a first world country in the West US perhaps, get married, make shitloads of money and live my life king size.
but as soon as I put my foot on American soil, a feeling of fear just ran through my body. it was like, I had died and had left everything behind. my family, my friends, relatives, my culture, the house I grew up in, those crowded streets, that wayside food and that familiar Indian smell we're famous for and most importantly the freedom
it was like a nightmare, I wanted to wake up but I was already wide awake, standing outside the JFK Airport.
it literally felt like dying and I didn't want to. my friend was there to pick me up, I hopped in her car and in an hour or so we were at her apartment in NYC.
the city looked beautiful from the window at 7 PM. I thought wth! this is called life, whatever flashed before my eyes at the airport is nothing but BS. I don't wanna die in that polluted, over crowded country, I'm staying here.
My Friend and I went out for Dinner, we roamed around a little and got back to her apartment by 00:00.

but only 10 minutes had passed, I started missing what I had left behind. my whole life just flashed before my eyes, like I had died and I'm just being shown for the last time as to what I did in my life as a human.
it scared the shit out of me, I told my friend that I'm moving back to India..at first she thought I was kidding, but when she saw me buying tickets online for the very next flight to Delhi, she realized it's not a joke.
she tried to persuade me, talk me out of it and what not, but I booked my ticket, picked up my bags and told her, take me to the airport, she took me there without asking anything.
第二天早上我醒来，外面阳光明媚，我拿了一杯咖啡，看着她公寓的窗外那些五颜六色的树，我以前在印度从未见过这些。

that day I realized, my India may be a poor, smelly, over crowded third world country, but that's my life and I am proud of what I am today or what this country has given me.
NYC sure had a bright career, so much of money, a better standard of life and everything, but it could never be India.
as soon as I reached home, not only my family but my neighbours were also shocked as to why did I come back so soon. but when I told them why I came back, they were all in tears.. although they were very happy that I gave up everything just to be on my homeland.
so the amount of comfort and freedom you get in your country is you can never get anywhere in the world, no matter how rich you are what kinda life you'd get elsewhere, being on your motherland with your people is just priceless.
so that's about it.
我10点到达了机场，我的航班是22:55。中间大概有13个小时的时间，我太渴望回归我的生活了，我不想在纽约多呆一秒钟。我只想不惜一切代价逃出去。所以我在机场待了超过13个小时，才搭上了回祖国印度的航班。
那一天我意识到，我的印度也许是一个贫穷、难闻、拥挤的第三世界国家，但那就是我的生活，我为今天的我以及这个国家给我的东西感到骄傲。
纽约的确有光明的事业，很多的钱，更好的生活标准和更好的一切，但它永远不可能是印度。
我一到家，不仅是我的家人，我的邻居也很震惊，不明白我为什么这么快就回来了。当我告诉他们我为什么回来的时候，他们都哭了。他们很高兴我为了回到我的祖国而放弃了一切。

This is a country many people would describe as having no national identity, and yet we have stayed together and still don't want to let go! We've got 3 national languages, 7 governments, a constitutional monarchy still, and all that in a country of barely 11 million people. Figured it out yet? I'll drop some more hints. Our national languages are Dutch, French, and German, the food we are famous for, are: Chocolate, French fries, Beer, Pralines, and so much more! One last tip: Brussels is both our capital and the capital of the EU
I'm talking about Belgium! Squeezed in between 3 large worldplayers, one unique country everyone knows about for some reason which is the Netherlands, and our little but ridiculously rich brother Luxembourg, people often forget we even exist, let alone travel to.

Our rich history: Our history has been shaped by large empires and countries controlling us, out of whoch we have formed our own identity. Romans, Franks, Spaniards, Austrians, Frenchmen, Dutchmen, even Germans for a while have been controlling this little patch of land in the middle of Europe for 2000 years. We've got Roman remains in Limburg, some of the most beautiful Gotic elaborate city halls ever built, Spanish churches all over, Austrian laws, clearly a melting pot of half of Europe! Wanting to visit the whole of Europe? Come to Belgium!
The moments: Manneke Pis, the Atomium, the city hall of Leuven, the most beautiful bell towers in the world, the Begijnhoven ( Kinds of abbeys built like small towns), the most castles per square km in the world, the royal palace, to name a few.
The food and drinks: Hundreds of different kinds of beer, French ( so actually Belgian) fries, chocolate and pralines, forgotten vegetables, marzipan, and waffles
The people: This is debatable, because we are introverted and as such might appear closed off at first, although never rude. Most of us will always be nice and try to help you, and especially the Flemish will answer in any language you both understand. If you spend some more time with us, you will find that we open up a lot more and will become even kinder.

I have grown up in a middle class family, surrounded by middle class people, and I have traveled in public transport for my entire duration in college. I can honestly say that nowhere in the world will you ever find people who can make so much out of so little. Middle classes in India are treated like cattle, only there to pay the taxes. Governments talk about the poor, and work for the rich. No one gives two shits about the middle classes. The local trains in Bengal are in a despicable condition, and only the commuters know the fight they have to put up to get in. But, amidst all this madness, you'll still find people cheering and having fun. They laugh, play cards, and wave each other goodbye when their stations arrive. The same can be noticed in their regular lives as well. People manage to drive through potholes, walk through flooded footpaths during rainy season, and still have enough joy in them to enjoy a 'gorom Cha' and 'adda' in some local shop. No one ever complains. In all their magnanimity they have somehow made peace with this mistreatment, and accepted that no one will think about them. They still love their country and countrymen with all their heart, and if you're a commuter in a local train in Bengal, you might have been lucky enough to hear people argue about which government policies are beneficial for the poor, even if it costs them a little more than usual, or causes a bit more discomfort than usual.
This, to me is the India I know, and I'll always keep in my heart. We might have reached Mars, but to me the greatest treasure of this country will always be the fantastic people.

No one is ruined by medical bills
Everybody have a home
If you lose your job the state will give you money so you don't miss your house payments and so you can afford food. This is while you are looking for work, and they even have job searching courses, and set you up for possible interviews so you can get back to work quick.
My country has been crowned the best place to live in, in the entire world several times.
My country is not particularly religious and even though most of the population is part of the Christian church few people are serious about their beliefs. Which allows rational discussions about public policies.
The nature is so beautiful here. There's mountains and Forrests EVERYWHERE. If you fly over my country there is few flat places which makes the entire country great for hiking trips.

All education is free until upper secondary school til age 19
If you come from a house with not so much money you actually get paid to attend school either 0, 127, 255 or 382 dollars a month depending on your household.
You get 12 months PAID parental leave from work if you get a baby.
When I was younger the government paid for a month stay at a beautiful hotel in The Canary Island with a school for my asthma.
When I attended upper secondary school all the students got a 1000$ personal laptop for 200$ the rest is paid by the school.
There is not a day that goes by without me beeing extremely grateful for living in..

The Rwandan history doesn’t sound well in foreign countries due to Genocide, social and political background. Let’s say, the past Rwandan leadership system was not good at all. The government leaders used to sensitise hates, and conflicts among the people which finally led to the Genocide.
After Genocide, the Rwandan government have made a renaissance through social and political changes. The Rwandans reflected to their history of having the same origin as well as not considering the past leaders who used to sow hates and conflicts.
About my country, I like the people because they care and appraise their core values. Rwandans core values are : Unity, Patriotism, Selflessness, Integrity, Responsibility, Volunteerism, and Humanity. I’m confessing that Rwandan community respects, and are guided by these core-values.
Rwandan citizens love each other regardless where they meet, and love foreigners as well. I am saying this because I have been living in different corners of my country, I got to experience how the Rwandan people love each other, and take care for the foreigners.
Also, Rwandan peoples have the strong dignity and unity which help them to build confidence, both weak and strong ties among themselves. I can’t conclude without mentioning how Rwandans are proud to be Rwandans. I am also proud to be a Rwandan too.

Usually we Chinese say that we are from “Chihuo Guo”. Actually, most Chinese student has to be adapted to the comparatively simplex food, the circumstances which they have never encountered in China before, in foreign country.
In China, probably you have hundreds of choice for your each meal. China is too vast, and each region gave birth to different culture, therefore the different cuisine just come into being in different places. Thanks to the rapid migration of population in China, different food culture just spread around the country. Now I just take the city I study in for an example.
Chongqing is one of the largest city in the west of China, the city is famous for its numbing and spicy food, like Chongqing hotspot, Xiaomian, sharp chili chicken etc.
当然是美食。
通常我们中国人都说我们来自“吃货国”。事实上，在国外大多数中国学生必须适应相对简单的食物，这是他们以前在中国从未遇到过的情况。
在中国，你可能每顿饭都有数百种选择。中国太大了，每个地区都孕育着不同的文化，所以不同的地方就产生了不同的美食。由于中国人口的快速迁移，不同的饮食文化在全国各地传播。现在我以我求学的城市为例。

My favorite wonton and baozi, wonton is from Fujian/Guangdong, where the locals hardly eat chili. I’ve had hotpot with my roommate from Guangdong and he cried just because he thought the hotpot is too spicy… Baozi is from Tianjin, where the people are not big fun of chili too.
Actually these are just a small part of daily meal choices. You can easily taste any cuisine from any province in any city in China. This is the most wonderful thing about Chinese food — diversity.

A five kilometer hiking through a national park, covered in ice, wasn’t the easiest way to spend the day with our Polish guest.
But it sure was the most adventurous one.
The previous hikers have left a little fire on the campfire site, in case anyone wants to wake it up again and grill in the darkening evening.
The air grows a little colder as the sun starts to set down, so me and my friend, Emma, take our places right next to the fire.
The smoke burns our eyes, but the coldness refuses to step back so we must stay by the fire.
We are remembering our weekend, filled with ice swimming, sauna, and lots of nature.
An elder couple joins us, smiling us politely, but deepening into their own conversation, as we continue ours.
One by one, the conversations quiet down and the crackling and light of the fire is dominating the dark forest.
“How was your hike?”, I ask the couple.
“Rough”, the man answers, “the 15 minute walk from the parking lot to here was one hell of a path”.

Emma suggests that we sing some Finnish songs together, and comes up with T??ll? pohjant?hden alla, under Polaris, a song telling about war.
In the pitch dark evening, over the fire, we sing with our voices slightly shaking from the freezing air.
Suddenly, a man from a small cabin next to us, who had been quiet for this whole time, joins in, singing his heart out.
My eyes fill up with tears mixed from the smoke and emotions, as we continue together.

Now, after a weekend of seeing Finland from a new perspective, hearing new stories, learning history and eating traditional foods again after abandoning them - as they were so “boring” -, I felt I had returned home.
The awkwardness and quietness of Finns I had judged and hated before, I found out to be just being simply our true selves.
If we have nothing to say, we don’t feel the need to fill the silent moments with unnecessary small talk.
When we open our mouths, we tell genuine compliments and honest opinions.
If you are brave enough to see past our shy essence and strike a conversation, you will be rewarded with the most amazing stories and lifelong relationships.
Taking a step further from my habitat, I finally saw the unique, abundant nature we have, holding a enormous palette of colors to make every season into a beautiful piece of art. Forests full of berries and wild plants free to gather, sky filled with hundreds of stars and northern lights you can sleep under, and thousands of lakes waiting for swimmers, either summer or winter.
