"Dr Shirota was keen to choose a name that could be understood globally, and so chose the word Yakult derived from the 'universal language' of Esperanto .
养乐多的官网是这么写的：
“代田博士希望为这款饮料取一个全世界都能理解的名字，所以他从世界语里选择了‘养乐多’这个词。”
注释：Esperanto世界语，是波兰籍犹太人柴门霍夫博士于1887年创立的一种语言，旨在消除国际交往中的语言障碍。

True story; my family once received literally hundreds of yakult as a present from my father’s colleague. Because there were so much yakult everytime we opened our fridge, my younger brothers got so addicted to them that they kept chugging down bottles and bottles of yakult everyday. Im a big bubble tea fan, and one time I was looking at other drink options at Coco's Fresh Tea & Juice, which has Mango, Lemon & Green Tea Yakult. I asked them whats Yakult, but they couldn't explain it, just said its milky.
